Introduction

Environmental commitment

Melior Solutions is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on all aspects of the environment.
The company has no inherent manufacturing and therefore does not have issues such as large-scale waste disposal or harmful waste emissions to contend with. Also, the business supplier base is very small, primarily involving the supply of IT and technology equipment/solutions and office supplies. Given the very small scale of our supply base, Melior Solutions does not consider that a wide environmental policy affecting these aspects, as one would find within ISO 14001, to be appropriate.

The company, however, still aspires to actively contribute to reducing the effect of our business activities have on the local & global environments. The benefits of these actions should bring a long-term improvement to the business and improve the external image of the company.

The key aspects of the environmental policy for Melior Solutions are:

  • Seek to improve environmental performance and involve team members to do so.
  • To minimise waste by:
    • The re-use of packaging.
    • Not printing documents, where ever possible. The majority of the Company’s work is cloud based and therefore predominantly paperless.
    • Avoiding land-fill based waste and reducing the load on waste disposal generally.
    • Retention of all toner cartridges and other similar recyclable units for collection by external organisations.
    • Recycling recyclables such cardboard & plastic.
  • To minimise energy usage by:
    • Ensuring that services such as lights and heating are not left on unnecessarily.
    • Servicing and replacing equipment as appropriate.
    • The Installation of green energy solutions, such as photovoltaic solar panels to offset the requirement for grid-based power. The office location has a 10KVA grid-tied solar installation and the provision of charging facilities for company electric vehicles.

Any legislative changes that have an impact on the business will be assessed and incorporated into this policy.
The company director has overall responsibility to review the environmental impact of the business from time to time.

Team members are provided with information and training to enable them to understand their own responsibilities in contributing to the business’ environmental goals.
